Files

How do I load in a previous week.

Go to the files menu and click on open and load in any week in question.

I have two files that are the same, do I need them both?

No, go to files and delete files and delete files, preview the files and delete the ones you don't need.

How do I backup my files

From the files menu, click on Zip League and Back it up.
This option will create a zip file of your league and allow you to save this file to a jump drive, a different folder, or any other removable media except a CD, unless the CD is formatted to act like a disk.
Click the drive to backup the zip file onto and click OK .
We will zip your league up into a zip file using the first 6 characters of your league and the week number and save the information to the selected disk.

How do we do a forfeit?

Input the scores as usual, but click on override wins and losses and at the end of the data entry, we will ask you for the wins and losses.

4 person teams. A bowler bowls one game then a sub is brought in to finish the last two games. How do I enter this correctly?

Add the sub to the bowling roster when you enter scores. Instead of entering scores for 4 bowlers, enter for 5
We will take care of the team handicaps for you.

I am inputting scores and we have one bowler that bowled one game and a sub bowled the other two for them. How do we handle this.

When you do the lineup, add the extra bowler to the roster, this way you can enter both bowler's scores and Bowl101 will take care of the handicaps.

How do I do a split season?

If you go to configure bowl101 and to configure schedule and have the split season configured for that week in the description column click on it
and insert split season. Now when you input scores, it will ask you if you want to zero the wins and losses before you input scores.

How do I do position rounds.

Same thing you do for split seasons, except you insert position round instead of split season.

How do you enter a blind score

Press the letter B for the bowler's score and we will turn this into a negative score so Bowl101 will know that this bowler did not bowl and to give the scores to the team and not the bowler. You can configure the number of pins to drop, (defaults to 10) in the configure bowl101 under blinds.

How do you enter a vacant score?

By pressing the V key for the bowler's score, and the settings in Configure bowl101 under Blind will be used to enter a negative score for the vacant bowler like it was for the blind bowler.

For all of the year till this past week we had a blind team. When we input scores it won't let us enter them because of the blind team.

Go to configure bowl101, to the blind team tab and remove the checkmark stating you have a blind team.
Now it will act like a regular team and allow you to input scores.

Edit
I can't find the add remove teams bowlers and subs
Those features under the Edit Teams, Bowlers, or Subs.

Print
I don't have a newer monitor and I can't see the whole standing sheet on the screen without scrolling, can this be fixed?

Yes, go to view and zoom and drop the zoom down to about 75. This will not effect how the printouts print.

One of our subs bowled very well and now is on the standing  sheet in the hi handicap category.

Did you swap them onto the the team when you entered scores?
You  should just select them, as Bowl101 will not put the subs on the high games unless they are on the team, or you have it set to include subs.
To remove them, go to edit and down to high games and click on the category they are in give them a zero for a score and press enter, exit and save and they will be gone.

I modify the printed standing sheet and save it as a gif file. However, I can't get this to upload to bowl.com.  What am I doing wrong?

In order to upload to bowl.com you must sign in with the League ID and Password. Bowl101 will "remember" these and automate the upload process for you.
After you have registered your league and provided Bowl101 with your League ID from the editor under bowl.com utilities and Add or Modify Password you can enter the league code and password.
If you have your username and password entered correctly from the main menu in the editor, under Bowl.com Utilities, Add or Modify Password, it will take you to the upload page.
Click in the filename box that comes up in bowl.com, and we will insert the path and filename, to the page to upload, all you have to do is to click submit.
Once uploaded, you can click to upload more pages.

We need to find out if a bowler has missed more than 1 weeks bowling, is there a way to track these?

Yes, Under Utilities, click on Show Absent Bowlers and we will bring up a list of bowlers missing 2 or more weeks consecutively.

I've purchased and set up a new computer.  Could you tell me how to reinstall the bowling program with the prior information?

Backup your files to a floppy disk first. Next, install the CD for Bowl101, and then download any updates.
Create a new league and then restore files from the A: drive. Insert the backup disk in drive A: and restore the files from drive A:
This will put you back to normal on your new computer.

Bowl101 has the teams in order by the wins and losses for the entire year, not just for the current second half.
What I need is for the current win & loss columns to be in team order by the most games won in the second half
Right now it is in team order by the most games won for the season.  Is there any way to fix that?

Yes, You can just go to edit and edit teams bowlers and subs and edit the wins and losses if you want and this will fix it too.

Is it possible to change the program league officers in the middle of the season?
Yes, go to configure Bowl101 and configure league information and set it on the league and officers tab. Once set it will stay.

We had two teams leave in the middle of round two. We used two byes for the remainder of that
round but seeing as it was a three round comp we did a redraw for the remaining ten teams for the final round.
How would I deal with that problem should it ever arise again.

Go to edit and add remove teams bowlers and subs.
Remove the two teams, this will move those bowlers to the sub list and remove the last two teams.
Before the teams are removed, you will select the new team order, thus moving the bye teams to the bottom and
arranging all other teams.
This will save a temp file called 99xxxxx.bkl leaving the last week of the split in tact, but when you input scores
for the next split, we will save as a normal file and then delete the temp file.

How do I not change the bowlers averages until week 4

In the configuration of the score sheets, there are some options to print handicaps, averages, total them etc,
just check the appropriate box and it will follow your lead.
To hold the averages for x games, in the configuration screen Custom 1, the second option,
"Use entering averages for current averages for how many games, enter 12 here, if you bowl 3 games.
Or go to edit and re compute and update scores and click on set calculate keep averages to set them for all weeks.

Can you tell me how to keep a note file for rules and regulations, or minutes from the meetings

Print a standing sheet, go to files and new to make a clean page. Type in your rules and then go to files and
Save As, enter a filename such as Rules.rtf, or type in the Minutes and save as Minutes.rtf.
Now when you need this, print a standing sheet, go to files and open and there they are.

Can you tell me how to make a withdrawn team a bye team and how to transfer the players.

Go to configure bowl101 and to the Blinds tab.
Click on checkbox "Check here if you team has a blind team." Enter the blind team number.
Set the other variables so we know how the team bowling the blind team can win the game.
To remove two bowlers, just add a bowler and place the new bowler on the blind team and this will drop that
bowler to the sub list where they can be swapped onto any team.

I am having a terrible time trying to upload to bowl.com

First, print a standing sheet click on Add Modify passwords and make sure you have the username and password set.
Print a standing sheet or just bring it up on the screen. Click on upload to bowl.com and create a gif file.
Click on upload to bowl.com and then click on upload page 1, when bowl.com appears, click in the box for the
filename to upload and it will insert the proper filename.
If it doesn't press CTRL V and it will.
If you are not taken to the upload screen, something is wrong with the password portion, check it again.
Click Upload and it should upload the file.

We will be bowling 6 man teams with the low score not counting. Is there a way that the program can accommodate that?

Put the low man down as a pacer, press A for one of the bowler's score, this will turn this bowler into a <Pacer>
This will change the bowler's name to <PA>name and when you enter the scores, the scores count for him or her and not for the team.

How do you turn off a pacer or pre bowl if you accidentally turn it on?
Click on their score and press P or A to toggle them on or off.

Does Bowl101 run on a Mac?

We don't support the mac, but we do have several users using Bowl101 under Soft Windows or another
Windows emulator.

How can I make a change to a score on the standing sheet and have it save.

Anything on the standing sheet can be edited, don't edit it on the standing sheet, edit it under,
Edit Teams, bowlers, subs or high games, after you have it edited and saved then your new printout
will have the changes and they will be saved.

Where do I edit the wins and losses.

Go to edit teams and you will see the wins and losses there, just edit the current and season
and then print the standing sheet, this will let the changes be saved.

How can I remove a high game on the standing sheet.

Go to Edit and then down to High Games, find the category the bowler or team is in and edit the score here.
To remove the bowler or team from the high games, give them a 0 and press Enter so move them to the bottom of the list.

How long are the updates good for?

6 months, or longer then you can update or not, this is an option, Bowl101 will never stop running because you
have not updated. You can skip updates and one up at any time, we always send the full program, so you never need anything in between.

Some things don't print out on the standing sheet, such as high games.

Any modifications or additions to the standing sheet can be found under Configure Bowl101 and under Standing Sheet.
Notice the tabs on top, for Heading, Teams, Highs, Bowlers and Subs.
If something is missing under the Highs, click on the Highs tab and check the box or change the number of high games etc.

What if I find a bug in the program.

Email me with the problem, I will reply and then fix the problem and have it up on the net A.S.P.

When I do an individual recap sheet, I get two weeks with the same data

This is caused by more files than you need. Go to files and delete files, delete the extra files and this will remove the extra weeks.

Our last week is all messed up, do I have to start over now to fix this?

No, delete that week by going to Files, Delete Files. Bowl101 will load in the previous week and you can re enter that week again
and it will be as if you never entered the bad data at all.

What is your definition of "Book Average" ?

The book average is the same as entering average, the average they come in with at the end of last year.
The one the awards and the final average is based upon.

I had a team quit in the middle of the season.  How do I take them out or change to vacant without affecting the schedule?

Just change the name of that team, and then add new bowlers to that team and it will drop the regular bowlers onto the the sub list and add blank bowlers to that team.

I have a bowler who has injured her right hand and last week started bowling with her left thus establishing a new average with her left hand.  My question is how do I do this?  Do I treat her like a new bowler?  Will the program let me add her with the same name?

Just add a new bowler and swap them for the real bowler. Give the new bowler a little different name, add an L to their Name
Where the L indicates they use their left hand for their average and R for their right hand

Schedule

When I click on Combine halves on the comment editor, nothing pops up to chose from.

Go to configure schedule and insert a split season anywhere in the schedule by clicking on description and then split season
Okay out of that and then print standing sheets click on combine halves and then it will work.

We are bowling an extra night one week to make up a snow date.  How can I modify the schedule to add a Thursday night date?

Go to configure bowl101, configure schedule and click on the description column for the snow day, and insert Snow day and we will adjust the schedule down for you.
